Burr Mansion: Spring Garden – Fairfield Connecticut
Sometimes simplicity is everything! Lauren and Matt celebrated their love in the stunning Burr Mansion. The Burr is a completely blank space which gave the couple an opportunity to make it their own. To round out the entire design we kept the colors neutral, the tables, clean and played on the garden and earth tones. They held their ceremony in the back of the property, followed by a cocktail hour inside the mansion and a tented reception. It was the perfect spring garden inspired wedding.
“Charissa was incredible. She went above and beyond to do more than what we asked. She checked in with us, gave us options, and was really the backbone of our wedding. We had a wedding on a budget but knew we wanted to put money toward a day-of coordinator so we wouldn’t be TOO stressed on our big day but Charissa was with us through the whole process, not just the wedding day. The day went so smoothly, she took over the hard stuff and worked on details I was never able to get to or even begin thinking of, she was so easy to work with, really guided us, and I truly consider Charissa a friend after everything. I can’t say enough good things.”

“The Burr Homestead, on the Old Post Road in Fairfield, is a mansion built in 1790. Built by Thaddeus Burr (pdf) a wealthy landowner and uncle of Aaron Burr. It replaced the original Burr Mansion, built in 1732, which stood on the same site. In that earlier house, in 1775, Burr‘s friend John Hancock had married Dorothy Quincy. Dorthy Quincy whose father was also an old friend of Thaddeus Burr. The old mansion was burned in the British raid on Fairfield in 1779. In spite of the pleas of Burr’s wife, Eunice. During this time Eunice even had the silver buckles stolen from her shoes by British soldiers.“
