I Said Yes Saturday: Juliet + Taylor

February 2, 2019 by Charissa Eykelhoff

Happy ISYS ya’ll ! Today I bring you the moment Juliet said yes to Taylor.

Juliet + Taylor
This weeks story is a little special to me, since the future Mrs. is my oldest friend. Just to clarify when I say oldest I mean that we have been friends since before I can remember – she is ONLY 8 months older than me! I guess that’s what happens when you live next door to each other before you can even walk.

Growing up neighbors made us quite the pair. We would do everything together. From spending all hours of the day climbing trees, + creating magical worlds to dropping lost teeth, + convincing each other that we wouldn’t get in trouble for changing for the 6th time that day. Sorry Mom + Brenda.  Growing up together we’ve been through it all, love, loss, + navigating this thing we call adulthood. So you can only imagine how happy I was when Taylor came into her life + even happier when he asked her to marry him.

I could write paragraphs about our childhood + all the trouble we got into, but your not here to read about that. So here you go, here is how Taylor asked my oldest friend to be his forever.

“During October 2017, Taylor + I took our first vacation up to North Conway NH. We had both visited the White Mountains several times while we were growing up so it was very nostalgic for both of us to be visiting one of our childhood destinations.

We had started our trip by visiting the New England Ski Museum in Franconia NH + hiking Flume Gorge. We also drove down the Kancamagus Highway several times (if you haven’t done that, I highly recommend that drive, especially in the fall with all of the foliage). We had decided that we would also visit Mount Washington during our trip. On October 17, 2017 we took train up Mount Washington which was something both of us had never done before (our parents always drove to the summit as kids). The summit was a chilly 5 degrees with the wind chill but the views were breath-taking. The skies were beautiful + clear. After taking pictures by the summit sign (6288′), we had decided to warm up inside for a few minutes before taking more pictures on the observatory deck. We went back outside and while we were on the Observatory Deck, Taylor bent down on one knee and said “I couldn’t think of a better place but here to ask you, will you marry me?” Of course I said yes! I couldn’t imagine spending life with anyone else.”

I’m beyond excited to celebrate Juliet + Taylor (as a bridesmaid) this June. I promise to hold your dress while you go to the bathroom, make sure Taylor is crying when he sees you, + not to bring up any of the home videos both our parents still have. Don’t worry i’m saving that blackmail for your first child.
